Adding media appearances to the forum ?

But what do mods & members think about starting a section where links are given to members' talking by webcams & links to them ?

THE SAME GUIDELINES AND RULES WOULD APPLY ABOUT CONTENT.

I would love to have the extra communicative dimension of seeing whoever my respondent is for threads we are mutually participating in . . .

Some information is best conveyed in writing. It is already possible to post a link to video content on other sites. If video was posted here the mods would have a lot more work to do.

I prefer to judge what people write, not what they look like.

Yes, DF96, you make valid points . . . And I am a relative newbie here, so the idea was put into 100% speculative form.

OK, I am satisfied that sticking with the present way of doing things on DIY is totally cool, and I will sign off this thread.

I much prefer reading text to watching videos on the internet. (I will read an article and skip a video almost every time if given the option.) A lot of my activity here is performed while doing other things like listening to music.

Like kevinkr, I guess 80% of my time here is also spent while listening to music.

The beauty of written text on a forum such as this is that its (semi) permanent and all the threads and topics become a kind of reference volume that can be constantly referred back to again and again.

Agree with the posts above. I prefer to read.

However, the video chat thing is not a bad idea, but it would be a whole other forum and format. Not here.
