Adding Gain Control to a Power-Amp

Sreten, I have searched the manual and failed to find anything about normal and -10db settings. Is it a switch on the back of the unit or an electronic setting? Do you know how to get to it? I'm not even getting 'Normal' displayed and when I try to adjust the levels it just jumps straight to the next built in channel (i.e. centre or rear LH).

I realise that the two inputs on the power-amp are merely a splitter and are joined internaly. Thanks for highlighting that though as it is something that could have been overlooked and I can see how I could have been mislead by it. I am hping to achieve as Puffin mentioned. The wife will then have no need to switch on the C500 Pre-Amp, select the correct input and adjust the volume.

Puffin, cheers for that. I am hoping to get a bit involved in DIY. I don't know how deep I'll get but I'd like a taster and can imagine imense satisfaction can be gained from it.

Thanks as ever to you both for the help.

Simon.

After having another play with the leads from the AV Processor, I appear to have a more balance output level coming from the stereo speakers with the AV Processor connected directly to the power amps. Which is what I was hoping to achieve. So I'm not sure what has happened. It is deffinately not a setting on the AV Amp that I've found. But either way, the problem may have resolved itself. If it suddenly re-appears then I may have a faulty AV processor.

So thanks for all the help, but this case appears to be resolved. 🙂

Please accept my sincere apologise sreten, I have just found it on page E-27

It was set to normal anyway.

However, I have now re-plumbed the entire Hi-Fi and have the AV amp connected directly to the power amps and funnily enough it is now all working as it should. In fact I have had to increase the volume of the surround speakers to +4db.

I don't know what has happened or what I may have done wrong but it is now all working as it should.

So thankfully, this case appears to be now closed. 🙂

Thanks for all the help everyone.

Simon.
