Hi All,
I have an AX84 P1-Ex built and running great. I am now in the process of building some stom boxes for fun. My problem is that with the P1-Ex, if the gain is turned down to get a clean signal, there isn't a great deal of volume. I am thinking about adding a separate preamp to run as the clean channel.
Being a novice (I can build, but have not enough knowhow on designing yet), can anyone give me some ideas about how to achieve this? Can I add a separate preamp to switch to for clean? Could it be something like a simple solid state?
Many thanks,
Robin.

Hi Robin,
It won't work. The SE EL84 guitar amp wasn't designed for loud clean sounds. Your only choice is to buy a high sensitivity speaker (no less than 100dB/m) or plug it into a 4x12 cab. 😀
