Add new PSU or upgrade voltage regulators?

Hi All

I was reading an article in Hi Fi News (march 2004, page 44) on the so called 'never connected power supply'. (incidently, does this type of psu have a generic name? because could not find anything about it on the board)

Anyway the point is this. For the review they connected one of the FOUR! psu's to the analog section which according to the reviewer brought about a substantial reduction in noise, increase in dynamics blah..blah... The other three were connected to, from what i can gather, the clock, dac and transport. They used a Marantz CD 6000 KI (with clock upgrade).

Now I have also read that upgrading the voltage regs to the likes of ALW Super Regs bring about simmilar results.

The psu option in the Uk is going to set one back £175 ( can this thing be WORTH this much?!) whereas Andy's Super Regs can be had at one third that.

The question is which would provide the most bang for the buck?

I am perticularly interested because I too own a marantz 6000 KI.

many regards
Shamsur
