... Nothing ! 😀
But if you ask twice, I could say : antic (not the dac chip but all the things around... btw are you even sure the dac chips are not fake or second SORTED QUALITY !)).

I'm wondering what's so special about AD711 for I/V, even in a metal can?
Looks like it would take a fair amount of modding to get it sounding good as it has what looks to be a single unified ground fill over the top side which normally indicates the designer has merged signal and power grounds together.
Do you see that.... AUDIOPHONICS I-TDA1387 TCXO DAC Raspberry Pi 3 / A+ B+ / Pi 2 / I2S - Audiophonics
sure the guys of Audiophonics read DIYA ! 8 x tda1387 !
for OP : maybe some nice AK cheap dac, look for on the digital Audio threads...

Looks very interesting thanks Eldam, I think I might have seen it before. They're sure using lots of caps - but if they'd read the long Malefoda thread then I wonder why they still went for 8 TDA's? Perhaps to get sufficient output current for a low output impedance to drive the inductors? I think its the first commercial TDA1387 based DAC with output inductors 😀
