Hi there everyone, Ive finally got my active xover built, Ive toyed with them before, going half active. But decided that it would be best to go the whole hog and do the lot.
Well if you have read my other posts you will know that, its to cross ssd2905/9500 to w15cy001, to 850146. Anyway the whole lot is on a PCB, using AD6010's as the buffer and trebble stage, OPA627's for mids and OPA2134 for Bass.
All of it is variable using trimpots, but most importantly, it sounds superb. I had finnished my other amps , 200 watt monoblocs to drive the bass as I only had 4 channels of amplfication. These are still only running at abour 20 wpc as Im w8in on sum caps to arrive from the states (ebay) for the supply, then ill be cookin.
Anyway the whole lot isnt the best it can be as I dont have any software!, but thats about to change, ive put in an order for LSPcad pro, so should be gettin that soon too. Oh the fun im going to have with that

Ive also got a DAC in the pipeline based on the PCM1794 from TI, I have the PCB all designed for that I just need to check it to make sure nothing is wrong. Its going to be a challenge with those really tiny
legs on the surface mount chips. I know the AD opamps i used were small but not like an ssop.
Ok well sorry atm for no pictures as the digital camera is on the blink, come to think of it its never worked well, but anyway when I get it all sorted Ill give you a pic fest of all this stuff ive said i have made but never shown you pics, watch this space

I think I've done things a bit like you, using kX at first to eq/xover my dipoles and I'm currently making active filters/eq with a lm3886 per channel to drive the speakers. I'm using tl072's until I know that it works... Can't really trust myself...

Good luck with the whole lot active really is the way to go, if you can build your own amps! other wise could get expensive. The 200 watt monos cost a total of £150 for both. Soooo expensive 😀.
I too used the Tl072's in my 1st active to make sure it all worked. They do sound surprisingly good for 50 pence devices. Once its all up and running do upgrade the opamps tho. Samples are very good for this! You will get a much improved sound with better ops, however I was impressed at how good the crappy ones are.
The KX drivers are very good for teaching youself what sounds good and what doesnt, also as soon as you get a set of drivers you KX it and have a speaker singing in about 30 mins with some tweaking of the settings.
