Hello guys,
I am new here and seeking some help. The first problem i have is my wife 🙂. she made me sell my klipsch rf-7. because she wanted a big wall closed for the tv. so i start making my own speakers.
For music all my speaker design sound really nice. very big open sound. but the problem is that with movies the dialogue is not good. i need to turn up the sound very hard. but i need to put it so loud that when there is a action scene the windows blow out of the room.
i kept swapping drivers and horns. until i bought electrovoice zlx12p. And with these speakers i don't have that problem. So now i know it is a speaker design flaw. i i want to get it right
I have measuring equipment
My current setup
active crossover xilica xp-4080
stereolab traxtrix horn with b&c de400tn
celestion tf 1525 15 inch woofer
Please help.

Hello,
I know what you mean. i have two channel audio in my home theater. there is nothing i can change. expect for setting the center channel of or on. with the electrovoice speakers i dont have any problems with dialog.
i know for sure it has something to do with phase or something with my speakers. want to get it right. want to use my own speakers

First of all, put your wife in the kitchen try tell her to back off your hifi 🙂
If that doesn't work then build a bigger garage for your home cinema 😉

haha, well i think i have a good compromise in my situation. here is a pic of my current setup. so i made the (tv closet/furniture) but my klipsch rf-7 cannot fit.
i also have a 21 inch subwoofer (b&c 21sw150)in my room. so i really can't complain.
accept for my problem with dialogue. so if there is anybody who can look at my measurements? and see if there is any problem there.

Arnout, that is why I put the center channel through the TV.
Place a 2nd order filter at 80 hz. Voices are plenty loud

You can move the horn to the TV and also flip the 15" to be closer to the TV. Maybe the image/dialog will be better with them closer spaced.
