Ok drop in the venerable Seas H1212. Though you didn’t tell us the diameter of the original, but some woodwork (this is DIY 😉 ) should not scare you away.
While you are on it, the SB13 series seem good and affordable bass-mids.

"Hi Gaz
Yes, according to our records we have used the WA-B110 in the original AE100's in the past.

That WA B110 looks like a good driver and incredible value for money, especially compared to what genuine B110s sell for now. Whether it gives results like a genuine B110 is another thing but those things are far from perfect anyway. I love LS3/5As myself which the genuine B110 is used in and again those speakers have limits, but, for midrange I still think they are probably the best speaker out there regardless of any cost. And the combination of drivers used in those obviously contributes to that sound. The WA is just paper as opposed to the bextrene-cone and I'm sure the material will have an influence on overall sound but for the money its worth a try.
It would be interesting to hear of anyone who has actually replaced their genuine B110s with the WA type and how it effected the overall sound.

Good suggestion on the Seas. Was that the one used in Harbeth or epos do you perhaps?
Have used the 1212 myself. And trust me, it does a good job, probably better than counterparts costing twice or more. Since it has a rear air chamber and relative low fs I expect it not to give you too much trouble when you are not going to change the crossover.
An even better option would be the H1499 with the waveguide, but that has to meet your taste. And of course other brands have good offerings too. The 1212 is hard to beat however.

but that has to meet your taste.
And that is bascially it, as long as you like the results, it is all that matters 🙂

You seem to be sure the woofers are 5 1/4" or 133mm, so this looks promising for the Wilmslow driver. I think you should remeasure the tweeter. Usually 94mm, 98mm, 100mm, 104mm or 110mm.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

As for the mid bass though, would the WA be a better driver even? The mid basses on these AE's to me dont seem bad units. They seem to have some hefty magnets on them as well when you pull them out of the box.
You'd do better to measure in millimeters. Tweeters use them.
Thing is, 4" is 102mm, and that doesn't sound right. For instance the SEAS we just looked at is 104mm. Monacor make some 100mm types. SEAS also make some goodish 98mm types.

I wouldn't change the AE woofers unless broken. The WA paper units are probably of similar quality. Are they plastic or paper cones?
This is a very nice bass at 134mm width woofer. No idea if it will fit without woodworking: Peerless 830860 HDS 134 PPB MidWoofer Speaker

Those measurements are done in inches as they were exact to those inches, yes I use mm for everything but they may have used an imperial standard when making those units hence they came out like that.
That peerless driver looks very familiar, maybe used in Neats perhaps ? Im pretty sure Seas also make a driver that is almost identical but its 3x the price.
The cones in the AE seem like paper to me possibly coated its a little hard to tell exactly but I think its just paper, and nothing wrong with paper, it can sound very respectable.
These would all fit:
H1280-06 22TFF
H1283-06 22TAF/G
Morel CAT 378 Tweeter
SB26ADC-C000-4 / Aluminum – Sbacoustics
The second two might need crossover adjustments, IMO. But both good.
