Hello to all Acoustat fans. Happy New Year!
I recently joined the Acoustat site on Facebook and was looking thru the various posts. I saw where a gentleman was asking if anyone was interested in a pair of 1+1's with Red Medallion interfaces. I responded asking if he might sell the interfaces separately. I own 4 pair of Acoustats and thought it would be nice to have a spare pair. He pondered it for a few days then replied that he would sell the MK-121C's to me. His reply said the interfaces had some upgrades: new capacitors, new speaker terminals, the high frequency capacitor was bypassed which limits the highs and degrades the sound. I was lucky he didn't live too far away from me. We made the deal and I drove yesterday to meet him and pick them up. They were in pristine condition.
I was surprised that I was the only person to reply to his post. I know how rare the Red Medallions are. I feel fortunate to acquire them.

Hearing the word "Modified" makes my blood run cold. Those binding posts remind me of Marty Feldman.

Although the photo is a little blurry, the soldering job on those binding posts looks like it was poorly done, probably with a soldering iron of insufficient wattage. Best to touch that up if you have the requisite equipment and skills.
Soldering job on binding posts
Thanks for noticing Andy, I have a friend who said he could do a better job with the soldering. One other issue I wanted to ask your help with or anyone else who happens to read this.
I need to order a new fuse holder for one of my MK-121-C interfaces. As you can see in the picture when I pulled out the fuse the glass broke away from the metal end piece which is lodged inside the fuse holder. No way I can remove it. Can you recommend where to order the correct piece?
All the best, blgtrio

Is the end cap of the fuse stuck inside the body of the fuseholder, or inside the removeable fuse cap? If it's inside the cap, you should be able to remove it.
fuse holder
Hi Andy, It is stuck inside the removable fuse cap. I used an awl to try and wedge it out, I cant budge it.

Well, I suggest you try harder, perhaps using small needlenose pliers or hemostat. Otherwise, you'll likely need to replace the entire fuse holder - the chance of finding a cap-only that fits correctly is slim-to-none. The original manufacturer of the fuseholder was probably Littelfuse.
I hope it fits properly. Caps must be matched exactly to the fuse holder - most brands LOOK similar, but are not quite the same.
