Well I finally got one of the speakers hooked up. I noticed a crackling sound from the bass panel most of the time. What could possibly cause this distorion. The other panel sounds incredible.

If you can pull down or remove socks, carefully vacuum or better yet, use compressed air and blow out all dust particles in panels. Then make sure you do not have wrinkles in mylar (under the wires), especially in the corners. You can mitigate wrinkles by using a heat gun - but be very careful you don't melt the mylar by getting the mylar too hot.
John I don't think the rinkles in the corners have anything to do with it, mine brand new out of the box had them. The lead outs of the coating are in them as well. jmho Al
Yes. The heat gun to remove wrinkles is definitely last resort -
Open interface -- be careful - unplug them for a couple days to be sure low or no voltage - pull red wire from connector and touch other two connections to drain bias voltage. you may hear a crack - see a spark.
See if there are loose wires connecting onto PCB - there are two threaded nuts that hold down wires - make sure they are securely connected to PCB. I guess if you loose one stator wire connection, could cause low volume and maybe crackling?
