did not the split down the middle - holding the diaphragms?? - cause the LF extension vs output to decrease??

Guess I should have said...
clamped down the middle which devides the active diaphragm into two vertical sections. The bass was better with there panels but that may have been due to the improved stator construction. I have never had stability problems nor colapsed a diaphragm with this arrangement. Regards Moray James.
