do you realy? lol sorry j/k
Nice screen shots buddy i see you got yourself a nice result, the cams on these screen shots realy dont do it justice, i know what yours would look like in real life, possibly 3x brighter thats for sure. These lilliputs are great for pictures arent they? ive tested mine out on alot of pics and they came out great, crystal clear, nice colouring too.
Great job buddy and keep up the good work.

heya trev,
thx for the congratz.
my nick is from a song from a german band "Die Aerzte" ="The Doctors".
Yeah, in reality it's far brighter and these lilliputs are really great for pictures. if setup made in a right manner the pics are crystal clear. all of my friends were enthusiastic and couldn't believe that's diy. lol.
i wish i would have all the nice machines to work it out in a pro's way as well as the skill for cad. i had so much fun build this and learnt a lot..also from your expierences.so i decided to build a new one, completely made of ally.
i think your design is the most sophisticated and professional i've ever seen.
btw, powerstrip works great in order to deal w the reso of the lilliput.
do you need another, reliable source of frenels? then i'll hit you w an e-mail.
would this be a completely new design or are you looking looking to incorporate new features into your current model??
Heya Johnny, great to hear your light and lcd is coming, just remeber that if this light place takes their time, get up them about it lol.
The new model will just be an upgrade to this one, it will use all of the same lenses and should be the same size, the only difference will be the bulb. It will be a 250w hqi rather then the cdm-t, just to add some choice for you guys and to help have a brighter image. Though, ive got my suspitions that a 250w hqi will be too much for this lcd, as this lamp is starting to eat into the black level as it is, cooling on the lcd will also be required with this bulb. As soon as i get to making the air intake for the lcd unit with the next modd of moving the lcd 12mm back, i may make a small space for the lcd to be cooled from the front fan as this cdm-t warms the lcd up somwhat, there is the maximum possible amount of light going through it thats for sure. But yeah nothing majorly different, i try to do the job properly the first time rather then to make a rough and poor design that will only cost time, money and effort at a latter date. I can garentee you that this design is flawless and will work strait off of the plans.
Ive got a few new designs up my sleave but yeah i need a holiday lol, one of them is a 3d projector. Im starting to get the parts for a diy fully automatic electric projection screen too, i plan to make this soon after this projector, and will be matched to operate on this unit.

Heya I eat flowers, i didnt know it was a german group, some of the music from germany isnt bad actually not that i get to hear much of it lol.
No need for special machines buddy, ive got the advantge in knowing how machines form metal so ive got a better idea on how to do things more then likley, if you need any help just ask bud. You dont have to have cad either, a plan on paper is far easier and faster, just draw up a full size scale of the model on paper and go from there, just be acurate in your darwings and all will be fine.
Sure ill see what this company of yours have to offer.

What is DIY ?
If I buy a new coffeetable on IKEA, I get a flat packet with all the parts and a buildning plan. When I come home I put the coffeetable together after the buildning plan.
But is this DIY ?
Have I made the table or IKEA ?

Uvodee, if you feel harased then leave, there is no individual in here harasing you, you brought that on yourself. As for your free speach, well it certainly is, an insulting free speech at that, and imo with manny acusations. This is a forum uvodee, it is globally, it is not the usa nor any other country, so what you say in your country in a rude manner as far as im concernd stays there. These wild acusations and rude coments are not welcome in this forum nor in this thread and i will not repotiously put up with them. I hope soon you calm down and wake to you senses.

Did you know that i once spoke with someone from the united kingdom on ebay ( i believe it was the UK if i remember correctly...)
anyways, at the end of every email, I was ending it with "Thanks a million"
turns out that in his area, that phrase is insulting in some way. He knew i did not know that, so he let me know very kindly... Needless to say I stopped saying it...
Like ace said, what others might find insulting in their area, is not in another area..... If something is bothering you about someone's post, let them know in a nice way, and let them know exactly what about the post is bothering you... uvodee, you might feel harassed, but i sit here looking at your posts, and you look like your harassing ace.
Re: What is DIY ?
This is what i was thinking of also...
I would say that it is also diy...
think of it as building those little cars you can buy in those stores... the ones you have to put together yourself, cement glue the pieces together, etc.. they usually have like 3 levels of difficulty... 3rd level being the hardest. Well that's diy, it's just the pieces were manufactured for you. At the 3rd level, they are still made for you, except there are many more smaller pieces. Whereas level 1 is basically snap together. They are all diy technically, just as IKEA is diy. Just the IKEA could be considered like level 1 basic DIY 🙂

to DIY or not to DIY that is the question
Guys,
Give it a break. If u need to discuss the above topic further - maybe another thread is required.
Its cluttering up this one.

lilliput
For those of you guys who havnt yet received their lilliputs - well just got mine and its a brilliant little xga monitor, I honestly will be sorry to split it!!!
messing around I'm tempted to replace all the crts in our office with these lilliputs!! very small but exceptionally bright and sharp.
I dont know how it will perform when used in a projector but simply as a monitor it is BRILLIANT.

Guys, small update.
Well the last few days ive been hard at it, the lcd unit draft plan is finalised and done, ive made a new light box, tried a new idea regarding the light box internals to make things easier for you guys to fabricate, and started to make the new lcd unit.
The parts are still on their way and ive made a few phone calls this week regarding why they are so late, starting to get not only on your nerves but mine too.
Ill start off with the new light box, ok its the same as before but we now have a size change to take up some slack in the system and this has given us another louver for cooling.
The pic below is of the original design, in this now updated design ive incorporated a reflector holder into the design so its less building we have to worry about, and is also very sturdy. If it looks bent to you this is from the cams lens, this unit is spot on square and strait, also the holes are very true. This pic was taken after a quick clean up and will be cleaned up more before being painted.

Ok here is the new design, i tried to do away with the holes so its less work, this idea does work but the outer box shell runs hotter so this idea i will forget about and not use in the plans. This idea also blocks less light so the honey combe idea that i designed realy does work a treat. If you look carfully you will also see a line in the center running up the side, this is for getting out optics perfect and lining this inner part of the light box to the other so all centers are matched up. All of the lcd unit will have the same center line right to the projection lens to make sure all is lined up center. Ill also add in both of the pics the outer louvers are not in place.
Here is a shot of the finnished internal unit for the light box, imo a crappy shot lol, this is also of the tried out new design. Ill finnish the original and updated designed internal after the lcd unit is done as i can still use this for the time being.
Here is a shot of how the internal sits in the outer light box shrowd, also see the center lines are lined up, if they dont look too centerd in the pic its because of the angle i took the pic. The reflector in there is also an experimental reflector so dont mind the cut out ends.
Well there isnt anymore shots of the outer part of the light box buts its the same as the old one posted before, it just had the size change. I thought id post up a pic of the draft plan so you can have an idea on the plans i draw. This plan is technical (not all lines are picked up by the cam) and will be broken down to 5 plans for you guys to read them easily. The white is the sizes bloched out and this is only of the lcd unit. In this new design all is spot on centerd and perfected in all ways, there is even enough room for a keystone at a later date. Thats all guys ill keep you posted.
