my fans came today and they're awesome.....
i placed the two fresnels i have together and came up with what i believe is a 155mm focal length....i got the measurements ready to go and a whole assembley plan in my head......just waiting for the ordering of the projection lens......this really is the suckin' a$$ part.....the damn waiting.......
well, when i get it ordered and it gets here i'll begin construction and be posting pics every step of the way.......

The focal is indeed 155mm, but remember that if you place the fresnells at that distance from the bulb that you need a thirt fresnell to convert the light to the objective. If you only have two you have to place them 310mm away. the you don't need the thirt one.

i use two fresnels too ( ea fl 310mm) and a fujinon copy-lens fl 240 mm. this setup works. the spot is big enough to get through the copy-lens althoug it's not 240mm away.

what kinda objective are ya goin to use? must have at least 178mm. just in case ya're intendin to use one w this short fl a third fresnel will be neccessary to get the proper spot on it.
otherwise you'll have loss of light. it'll pass the objective outside. that's waste of light-capacity.

two small radial blowers( cool air in ) on the left side and one is to come on top( hot air out).
the black tube in the centre is for the cool air a third blower brings to the panel. small slots on the planned rear-wall are for the hot-air out.
the controller board is screwed on the black wall in the middle where the panel is mounted.
the ballast is behind the mirror. i'll strip the psu and place it near the black tube.
when finished, the all over dimensions will be 30cm x 30 cm x 12 cm ( approx. 11,8 x 11,8 x 4,7 ").

I am also using the 310mm fresnells and the fuji copier lens and I use three fresnells? I get a bright picture for 70watt HQI. So now i am confused? The only reason the back fresnell is there is to converge the light into the objective? It has nothing to do with the picture?

i thought the fresnels simply made the light into parallel rays....so it would pass straight through the lcd.......wouldn't the projection lens gather the light and project the image on its own?
The projection lens can only make use of light if the rays go into it, so without a second fresnel half the image will be dim.

so i'll need to keep the lenses apart and sandwich the lcd between them......then the first will parallel the rays and the second will re angle them toward the projection lens........i understand

Hey Flowers where did you get your extension cable from your lcd panel to the controler board. That extension would make life a lot easier. Did you make it?

i've cutted 10 contacts on each side.

Ok I have a question, what would be the best fresnel setup for my psx lcd with a fujinon projection lens "the lens ace uses"? Can you send me links of the fresnels that would be good for the job. Also would I need to have a fresnel in front of my lcd between the projection lens and the lcd? Just for reference I have a 60mm condenser.

Khmann...you'll want to have a basic....light....(condensor)....fresnel.....lcd....fresnel.....projection lens setup for best results.......or so i've been told.....the condensor is optional and i'm told helps with briteness but is not necessary for decent results from the smaller 5" screens like we're using......your option
Hey flowers i checked out that website but there is no dist. in the us. i have searched on the internet for a while now with no luck . do you or anyone else know where i could get a 30 pin .5mm pitch ffc here in the us? did you just clamp your two ffc's together? I haven't quite begun construction on the enclosure for my pj yet. i'm still trying to tweak with the measurments. I can't decide wether to use an old pc case or just build the whole thing from scratch 😕

in the german forum they've found out a good mod how to get rid off the reddish color and a fine mod to adjust the brightness.
special thanks to harald ( in case he's readin dis).
to get a brighter pj solder a 470 to 500 ohm between the little capacitor and ground( pics fom harald,thx).
to adjust the red solder a 100k and 470k potentiometer in line between the left red dot and ground and adjust as you like( pic also from harald,thx)
and now i've worked abit on my little projector. the enclosure is made from 9mm mdf and 0,8mm ally.
here's a "plan". all dimensions in mm.
and some pics of the enclosure. i didn't the painting yet and the lens is still in need to be fixed. the ally is just tightened wit some screws to get an imagination of the final look.
the psu is the genuine psone-psu i've stripped with a saw.
the av-signal is directly soldered onto the controller-board. see pinout here ( pic also from harald). FBAS-Masse = GROUND.

Finaly......my lenses finaly came!!!!!!
Going away for a wedding and a long weekend so construction will begin as soon as I return and pics will comence.......
quick question for anybody.......
to get the measurements you'll need for your case many people have said to get all your items and put them through a test run to get their spacing right.....how do you get them all to stand upright to run them through a test if you don't have a case to mount them in yet?.....
oh and.......which came first....the chicken or the egg?

i'll post some pic's later on, due to my sucking cam. i'll take em w an ordinary cam and let the pictures burn on a cd.
for movie watching, the app is okay. with gaming i havn't experience yet. i'll do that after the scart and vga-mod. but it'll take a while. for sure, there will be no comparison to a lilliput reso.
on the other hand, if focused abit unsharp imho it's exellent.
and the light should be at least 150w. i use 70w hqi and it has to be absolutely dark to have fine results. with 150w there's no problem with ambient light, of course no daylight, but in the dawn it's fine.

ohh, your bride will be disappointed when you are constructing while honeymoon...... 😉 ( i know, it's not ur wedding)
but back to topic,
i've used a big mdf-plate for my trial-setup and cut it to the right size after alignment of all components. i screwed brass angles(brackets) to make them stand upright. the pj-lens was put on a box, a piece of wood or whatever i could find. to reduce wild bouncing light i covered it w a carton box. that's the way id did.
