Question regarding chassis kit with drilled/tapped heatsinks - do screws and other little things come with it? I'm assuming these will be metric, and honestly I'm lucky if I can even find 4 metric screws of a correct size for anything at my local hardware stores. I wouldn't mind paying a couple extra bucks for the required parts to be included.

I actually was planning on 10/32 UNF for all threads as thiere is a large US contigent included. I am considering buying the machine screws 18/8 SS in bulk and dividing the cost amoungst us.

I can not seem to get too much interest in a Parts kit for the rear panel.

If the members want screws and feet that would probably be $4 CAD per Chassis.

I'm organizing a group buy/build with luvdunhill for a Kevin Gilmore project. I'm currently out looking at chassis options. I'd be very much interested in a chassis kit as mentioned by coulumb or a hifi2000 option as well...

I think besides cost.. time frame is a big concern of mine. I'd like to have something in my hands by the beginning of summer... if that is possible with the chassis kit then I'd be interested in at the very least 4 kits if not upwards of 10.

Icarium do you have any idea if your group is interested in this GB?

Thanks

Anthony,

I just noticed in the wiki that you have a statement that you need a waiver for the small chassis if we have pets or toddlers. Is this due to heat concerns on the heatsinks?

Thankfully I'm going with the big chassis, but my toddler of 16 months has a propensity like her old man to be curious about all things electronic. It was common that I came out of my bedroom with burnt fingers when I was less than 3. :hot:

My current amp is at floor level but she doesn't touch it.

Well it is Tongue in Cheek humor. 😎

The F5 should really be fine with the 6" profiles, but it will run very warm.

Hi,

just wondering if the panel kit will come with standoffs?

If not, what size/height will I need for the boards.

I think I've got everything else accounted for.

Some boards would be mounted right to the heatsinks with standoffs. I always use Nylon Standoffs, I could buy a box and include 8 with every kit. I suspect most members just pick these up a local electronics shop or order them from Digikey.
