Hi,
I'm going to build a pair of magneto statics planar speakers (later probably 2 pairs to compare different solutions) A4 size.
Neos: 10*5*3mm N50
Membrane: Paper, stretched and "suspended" over the magnets
The metal back plate will the shaped like a picture frame with a front of 35x48cm
The draft layouts for the neos and 3mm aluminium tape are in the pictures the space between the magnet rows is 2mm and 4mm between the aluminium.
All help/opinions is welcome.

Wow! That's a lot of N's and S's in your diagram!
I share your interest in this sort of driver. How thick is your Al conductor? Do you have a particular reason for choosing paper as a diaphragm material? Most folks choose a polymer.

The Al is 40 micron,
About the paper diaphragm choice 2 reasons:
- I like the sound of paper "cone drives".
- JAMESBOS experiences in another thread.

Have you calculated the DC resistance of your aluminum conductor? 40 microns is quite thick and if you use 3 mm wide traces they'll need to be very long in order to end up with something an amplifier can drive effectively.

The resistance should be around 1.5 Ohm, I'll measure when it's finished.
Anyway for the amp I'll be using a 2*100W TPA3116D2 in PBTL that should have no problems with a 2 Ohm load.
The parts are arriving "fast" I should start building this week.

That's an impressive ability, if the amp is okay with 2 ohms. Best of luck with your construction. I'll look forward to photos.

According to the manufacturer http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tpa3118d2.pdf, and believing that it's a correct PBTL implementation the minimum impedance should be 1.6 Ohm.
