A way to DIY a Laser Projector?

I saw this online and was wondering how if you were to shine the white laser through a projector would you have a laser projector?

I understand you would need to expand the beam to be the size of the LCD or DLP but if you did that would you have a projector that could be displayed as far as a laser could shoot? What do you guys think about this? Anyone want to build one and give it a try?

You think scanning is the only way to go? You don't think there is a way to use a lens to effectively spread the light to hit the sensors and then pass through the front lens to be projected? It's been a long time since I took a laser and holography class, I do remember there are lenses and mirrors that can do something like this but I don't remember if there were draw backs. I also know that the # of lumens needed from a white laser would be greatly reduced when compared to a standard bulb but I still don't know how much light would be needed.
