A tip for PCB connectors

Hi all
Problem ... I want to eliminate the hateful wirewrap wiring in an electronics of the 70s by replacing them with connectors that are more congenial to me but above all more practical, there is enough space to change them with something else so my attention has focused on two models that I have at home and with the same pitch (5mm.) to what I will replace.

The wire wrap connections have been placed everywhere in the electronics that I have on hand but it is in the preamp section that is from the tone controls board to the RIAA equalization to the line section that I am in doubt ... for all the rest I have already done and replaced but for now not wanting to influence the recommendations I will not indicate what my choice fell on ... the cables to be connected are 24 AWG.

Solution ... I have 2 types of terminal blocks

like this vertical and if it is the case also at 90 °

This....

or like this JST-XH that allows you to remove faster the connections in case of assistance

for the Jst-Xh I should only cut the "even" feet to insert them in the pcb due to the 5mm spacing. instead of 2.50 but that's not a problem, it cuts easily.

Which of the two would you choose and why? Advantages and advantages?

You can have both!

Thanks, but I am aware but I have no alternatives other than those I have shown in the picture .... they also have a pitch of 5.8 mm. and they don't suit me.

Is it possible that in this forum with so many DIY builders who build preamplifiers, phono preamps, power amplifiers nobody uses connections for their projects who can give the opinion? 🤔

And over a hundred people came in to read this thread. 😕

I have some difficulties understanding your question. That may be the reason for so few answers. It could help to post more pictures of the preamp you want to modify ...
I certainly do not write English too well but my question is very simple: I have two types of connectors in the house to use instead of wire wrap, what would be better as reliability than a good contact in the long term?

Do you want to see some photos to understand where to replace the wire wraps? Here it is. 😊

Note they are 5.08mm (0.2") not 5.8mm. The ones that chrisng posted are pluggable, and you can get plain single-piece screw terminals too which are a bit more compact. Try searching for Phoenix terminals, possibly the MKDS line. They are available in 0.1", 0.15" and 0.2" to suit most designs.

Screw terminals are appropriate for solid-core wire, or you can use with stranded if the ends have had aglets crimped onto them.

If that fails, the search term or product category you want to dig through is "wire to board connector". Spades can be good for high currents, and are reliable.

Solder over wire wrap. It is the simplest and safest solution without other strange interventions.
The problem of isolation is not so serious.
The solder joints of the components are not insulated either. It's a long way to the Corona effect.
A lot could happen until now, but not yet.

LOL
thanks to all, I see that the answers are the most varied.
Nice to ask: better A or B and why.... and the answers come recommending C, D, E or F ecc.ecc.
I understand that no one has the truth in hand so I will go on with my instincts, after all, it is necessary to be daring and a little crazy if want to break new streets.
