A question of volume control

I m building a tube pre amp .

What is the best solution for a remote volume control ?

I would like to get a remote with it too .

Must be good quality and 20k- 50 K

I dont mind building it either

A long stick with a two prong fork on the far end.
You should just about be able to turn the vol pot up and own and select a different input if you have rotary controls.

Good for getting the others quiet while you're listening, a less gentle prod might even persuade them to leave the room !

But seriously, there are many kits available that use relays for input selection and motorised vol pot.
Most are IR control.
There are some/many that use integrated circuit volume control, but I don't think that would suit your philosophy.

There are even a few detailed builds in this Forum !!!!!!!
