A quick question: on your board I can see what looks like 2 oscons connected near the Dac on your board. Looking at the circuit diagram it looks to me like c20, 24,25, 34 are all on the analogue side and Elnas would be better in those positions?

WaveIO sound gaps
I am running JRiver 20 in Windows 8 on a core i7 CPU with local SSHD and USB drive with my stored aif music files. I installed the latest WaveIO driver. I also run Fidelizer to turn off unneeded computer tasks and services and give max priority to audio functions. The CPU shows that it is being utilized 1% of the time.
About every 2 hours there will be a several second gap in the music right in the middle of a track. It sounds like others are having similar problems.
A solution is welcome.

I don't have any problem like that, but sometimes the playback stops and foobar says "device invalidated", talking about the WaveIO. Then I just have to click play and it restarts. Looks like the WaveIO is a tricky part too.
Talking of Things that are special, my left channel is back on the new deck.
Still have to debug the previous one. The "thing" isn't explained totally yet, there was a short somewhere I don't know, and it blew one of my Belleson reg.
So the music is back, and I have to listen closely to the capacitor changes I made.

What HF filter caps size to use with 4 decks? Can someone remind, please.
I like 0.022uF with 4 boards.

Browndog in the US has a board they sell for more money. Though you would get them quicker and not much more money since they can be mailed in a letter envelope. This would be of interest, I would think, only to those who live here.
Getting Browndog's 28 pin adapters to make an easier to modify DAC. Narrow/wide SO to 28-pin DIP Adapter (p/n 031102A) - get to try out SMD soldering.
Rick - did you check Radioshack's Schmartboard adapters? They may not only be available locally for you, but also pretty cheap and with a grooved proprietary construction intended to give some relief on the SMD soldering technique proficiency... May be a good option.
I personally just came across them and will definitely give them a try. May help in my transgression to the SMD world.

2SK246Y Substitute
I read somewhere that the 2SK208 was a SMD replacement for the 2SK246 so I bought some 2SK208Y from Mouser to test. The 10KHz square wave test showed the same overshoot spike and current control as the 2SK246Y on the scope display. I heated one in a CCS circuit and it showed a small negative temperature coefficient just like the 2SK246. Next is to solder them to some mini-CCS boards and give them a burnin and listen. For those eager to jump on the CCS bandwagon - go get some 2SK246Y's. They already represent a proven noticeable improvement over the 6K resistor. I would be surprised if the 2SK208Y actually sounded better but it represents a cheap current production device that is even smaller and might work at pin 20.
Now that the 2SK246Y CCS circuits have 300+ hours of music play time on them I can report that my DDDAC has never sounded so real. Every positive word that can thrown at a DAC about how great it sounds applies here. I didn't know that CDs could present so much musical detail and energy without digital harshness. I have run out of tweaks I can try for my DDDAC, but this far exceeds what I thought possible when I started this project. I couldn't have done it without the contributions from forum participants. I will gladly share what I have done with all who are interested and help in any way I can.

Do you think you could summarise the individual mods you have tried and briefly comment on the percieved improvements. It's hard to keep a track of the variety of mods from people as this threads moves so quick!
