Ok I have a great deal of experience with car audio but none with home audio systems and was wondering if you can give me some pointers and help.
To begin let me first apologize for asking questions that have been asked hundreds of times and apologize if this is the wrong section. I know how much I hate reading the same questions over and over from noobs. I would use the search function but honestly I have no idea what I'm doing or looking for.
Here is the speakers I have so far...
(32) 5.25" Sony Neo speakers that I picked up for $.69/each on parts-express
(1) custom built T3 TSS Subwoofer d2 ohm
(2) Vifa Soft dome tweets
various other car audio goodies that I probably won't use.
My goal is to have a HT system that can get low, very low for movies, low 20's or lower while being able to play mids and highs clear enough to be able to enjoy music if I decide. Though it will most likely be used for movies, sports, video games etc. I was thinking about grabbing a O Audio bash 500 for my sub but no idea what else I need 🙁
My question is what else do I need?
Can I use a HT 5.1 receiver or should I use separate amps?
Should I buy more Tweets?
Should I get a couple 8" midbass.
How do I set crossover points? External crossovers?
I was thinking two towers and a bar using 8 speakers in each series/parallel for a 4 ohm final load.
I can build my own cabinets as I have all the tools and skills needed, but I need direction or at least a starting point. I would like to use equipment that is the best bang for the buck and I'm not opposed to buying used.
Thanks and I will be asking a lot more questions 🙂

Eight drivers is overkill for any speaker, even if you have that many laying around. Having that many speakers, especially wired together, is going to complicate things as they will interact with each other both electronically as well as acoustically and the result will be hard to predict.
Do you have model numbers for these drivers?
Does your sub get down to the 20's as it is?
Crossovers are the trickiest part and if you don't have equipment to properly measure your speakers all you can really do is make an educated guess as to where to set the crossover points then follow up with trial and error. Also were you thinking about going with active or passive crossovers? Active will be quite expensive but easier to get set up and dialed in. May not be worth the expense considering the cost of your speakers.
A HT receiver should do the trick assuming you don't do anything crazy. Using the 6CH Input setting you can get five channels of amplification to do with as you please.
What I would do is start out with two towers, maybe TMM, then go from there.
My best suggestion to you would be to get everything planned out before buying anything else or you'll end up with a bunch up extra stuff like me.
