A midi theremin ! Cv-to - MIDI or ADC - MIDI ?

Hello all ,

I`m new to this whole diy audio thing.

But i have been buildignelectronic for years.

I am in the process of building a Theremin and was thinking about converting it so that it will output MIdi messages as well as audio .

My reasoning for this is that the theremin has an really tactile user interface that i think will klend itself to the control of other parameters especially effects units .

My main problem is not the construction of the actual theremin , but the conversion of the output to a digital signal and then in to midi messages .

My knowledge of MIDI programming is ok but i know next to nothing og converting a analogue audio signal into a digital one .

I presume i will need some sort of CV to midi chip , But i could really do with some help.

Has anybody done something similar .

Regards chris

I would suggest using a PIC, you could use it to measure a number of analogue inputs, and output midi data accordingly. You would need to program it yourself though, and decide what midi commands are send for what voltages.

There are various PIC Midi projects on the net, it might be worth having a google?.
