Hi all!. I bought a Smith & Larson woofer tester 2 two years ago and
love the possibilities but am dissapointed of the complexity, lack of repetability.
non-intuititivity and it's sometimes astronomical and creative t.s. specs inventiveness.
I admit not being a rocket science expert and thought it had an instruction book but no...
My question is, aside from speaker tester and woofer tester pro, is there something similar available, that can test woofers, mids, tweeters, in and out of enclosures, and that is intuitive and reliable!.
I am also looking for a finished enclosure mesurement system, mostly for frequency response outside in wide opened, silent environements.
Of course, if a complete system, doing ALL of these mesurements exists, that would be an option too.

Any feedback on "Woofer Tester 2" versus the Dayton DATS?
Regarding, the more expensive fully integrated WT products, "Speaker Tester" and "Woofer Tester Pro" (one of which might suit the OP) are they really worth the money? The Holm software plus a Dayton mic, a preamp and a sound card would perhaps do as well, and be much cheaper(?)

I love my WT-2 because of it's ultra simplicity, repeatably, and accuracy. Much better than any other I have used. I can do VAS test with sealed box and mass displacement and be within 2% every time and between methods. I sure could never do that with my old HP generator, VTVM and hours of calculations. I have SoundEasy too. No where near as accurate.
What problems are you having? It does have extensive documentation.
I bought a .1% 10 Ohm resistor for calibration.
It takes practice to do T/S measurements correctly. It is not the test box, it is the test operator that is the variable. Once yo find your mistakes, it is then real easy and quick.
It is sensitive enough that a poor connection lead will cause a problem.
The only place where I have issues is with Le. It measures about half. Very tricky problem as it is calculated.
If you run a test over and over, yes the answer changes. Well, the VC is heating up and the suspension is getting more flexible with motion. It measures that! Yes, it is that good.
For acoustic measures, I have just switched to ARTA for 500Hz and up, but still use my TrueRTA full version for low frequency. Again, I also have SoundEasy. Very powerful. Does everything, but is horribly complicated. 500 pages of manual and you had better buy the third party quick start book too. When I can measure outside, I will see how ARTA does at lower frequencies. I usually want to measure the bass in the actual use position so measuring the room with pink noise is actually better than MLS. MLS is far better for above 500.

Oh yea, my soapbox. When you get a mic. Buy a calibrated one. No kidding. As good as the Behringer we all have is, it must be calibrated. Not kidding. This will completely make everything else you do worthless and misleading.

I am working with an S&L Woofer Tester Pro for about 5 years now and I have no complaints. Rather the opposite, it is very good and the integration into simulating software is of a very high quality. I don't share your experience with a lack of repeatability, so it is either a hardware malfunction, which I doubt, or using the wrong settings.
One of the good things is that you can call with the developer of the system, Keith Larson, telno is on their site.
