I hear what you are saying but when implemented correctly, it's a fine material.

vibrate and resonate -> "absorbing" bass (energy). Contraproductive!

Agreed, at the very least. Personally I would not have made a box like the OP from foamcore. It's goes against what you are trying to achieve without a tremendous amount of bracing/reinforcing, and imo, the whole idea behind foamcore is when building from wood becomes difficult.

You should listen to what FC can sound like with the Trynergy. With constrained layer damping via latex caulking and two layers of FC, the Tractrix synergy horn gets sub -55dB harmonic distortion at 100dB and sounds wonderful.

Look for 4ohms maybe those are in stock? Those 3FE25's are excellent and value can't be beat. $19 for 91dB sensitive full range with smooth response.
