The 8" Faital 8PR200 has gotten good reviews as a midwoofer.

The $64 Peerless 1" compression driver DFM-2544R00-08 can reach 20kHz.

The SEOS-12 would hold both horizontal and vertical pattern control for a 1500Hz crossover. A deeper horn like the LTH102 requires less high frequency boost.

Reviving this thread and with further investigations, I have come to a similar conclusion that side mounted woofer(s) probably now two 18"!! in force canellation configuration might be a better idea.

With the bass drivers possibly driven actively with an array separately mounted on top using a Volt 10" 2500.4 to a Volt VM752 3" mid and a suitable tweeter.

Do consider the BMS 18n862, available in UK from Lean Business. Expensive but well performing if you can swing the dough.
