I have designed a new full range planar speaker, for playing piano music. It is in the shape of a baby grand piano soundboard. Have placed all the neo magnets in position (1,560 25 x 6 x 3 mm neos) Just have to mark out 3 diaphragms, and put the 3 mm tape in position. Then wire it all up. Finalize the shape of the soundboard Then play some piano music.
No it's my design, what is the Bosendorfer design like?
Ha Ha! That's cute. Google Bosendorfer. It's a brand of piano.....potentially a very large piano. We've got one here with the extra low keys in Orlando at the Westin Grand Bohem Hotel. Pretty slick instrument.

small planar baby grand.
Have finished the bass diaphragm, hard on my back putting the 3 mm tape on. Also put the Astragal frame on, to hold the diaphragm tight. The medium diaphragm is next, this is smaller so will be easier on my back. Can't wait to play some piano music thro' it.

Can't wait to see it and hear of your results !!!
Without pictures..........
Everyone likes to see a work in progress
Minature baby grand pics.
Pics as promised, 1 more diaphragm to tape up then wiring of the 3 diaphragms, some feet then amp up and listen .Any problems will try and sort out, although I don't expect any!!

That's partly true. It is also a speaker, which, from what i understand can mostly reproduce piano.

Well, I better get on designing the drum speaker and the upright bass speaker so we can at least have a jazz trio to listen to.
Greg
Ditto. Will be sending more photos when finished and working
Looking good! Is this getting mounted in an actual piano chassis or something you are making to resemble one?
Greg
I hope you realize that if you place this horizontally the diaphragm will sag in a parabolic or if ur lucky, spherical shape due to gravity?
Jes' sayin'...
_-_-bear
If it does sag a little will probably use angle iron. The magnets are very small and the cut outs have integral struts to help. We shall see and overcome
last diaphragm finished
last tape in place now wants the 2 diaphragms framing. Then wiring up and trying I may reshape the soundboard to make it look more like a piano, a very small one, but I don't have much room left, to put it anyway. The small magnets helped, it's lucky I had them, otherwise it would have been too big and heavy. So wouldn't have materialized.
