race27, you have had a goodish idea with that 6" Peerless 830875.
Lojzek has done something similar with the polycone 830874.

If I had known any better, I'd have never wasted my time on 6.5" Dynaudio poly cones. Peerless are better in at least 3 categories. They play better bass, have a little better behaving poly cone and are less expensive. They used to sell for about 30 bucks some time ago while on sale, unbelieveable.
And lastly I have to admit that I have wrongly estimated the loudspeaker sensitivity in post #2568 of System Pictures & Description. It should have been written 86dB/2.83V/1m.

if a smaller driver might work better what do u think of the sb13pfc25. ive not worked with it yet but will in the near future. the only smaller driver i have on hand that i really like is the morel mw113,had it layin around for years and works really well but just doesnt go very low in a 2 way.

I always liked the look of this Troels Gravesen 5" Peerless 830860 speaker which would work with an XT25:
Peerless HDS PPB 830860
But strictly kitchen or bedroom. Not much bass. 🙂

My 830874 was in a closed box about 0.25ft^3 (7 l). I had it as an office system on a corner desk. Without EQ or bass boost; I was getting SOLID bass below 40 Hz (room gain obviously). This had great sound for the money; tricky X/O work though since I crossed it higher. I read that the 830875 was very similar in performance and sound quality. These days; I am mostly using Satori drivers and Mark Audio FR. The improvement in sound quality is well worth the extra costs but I was very happy with that little Peerless 2-way for 5 full years. I am now back on my own after living with GF for 5 years; advantages all around; especially since I no longer have to worry about "WAF" ha ha ha...
Cheers!
