8" Duelund Woofer - New to me

Duelund was a flippin' genius. IMO, the Albert Einstein of Audio. 😀

What is not to like about these ideas below? He did this stuff 30 years ago. 😎

did you build an ophelia speaker? I wonder if it's worth the effort and money. this

has anyone built speakers with duelund drivers? Humble home made hifi has them on its website. Tony Gee gave a crossover scheme and box dimensions.

These two drivers seem to be sharing quite a few qualities. Is it worth paying extra bucks, let that decide the end user.

they're not really all that similar. Totally different cones, a completely different spider (or lack thereof in regard to the Duelund) and a different magnet structure. I wouldn't expect their t/s parameters, frequency response nor distortion plots to be similar enough for them to be considered similar in any meaningful way.

indeed, anyone that can sell a small potted roll of copper foil for a grand is a genius alright!!

Not only that, also pencil lead in a fancy package, as audiofool resistors.
They are the cheapest type to make, very suspectible to noise, lack of stability with temperature and the highest distortion of any kind of resistor material. Both heat, vibration and moisture sensitive. There is a reason they are not used in quality electronics for the most part. But the low inductance makes them well suited for really high frequency applications, which audio is not :umbrella:
