Hello,
I am new to this forum and like what I see here.
I am building a 120W rms guitar amplifier and looking for this torrid for a power supply. A used one would work or any advice as to DIY < wind my own >.
Any info on regular transformers that would work would help also.
Any advise or information would be appreciated.

Toroid transformer
HI
http://www.apexjr.com/miscellaneous.html#Transformers
Basler 16-16431
120V input Marked at 300 Watt checked out as 500W
Output Dual 52V, Dual 10V, 20V, and 6.3V taps
$25.00ea
I bought one of these transformers it's a monster, it's underrated
it looks more a 600VA transformer.
Hope this can help

750VA Torid 55V+55V
Hello,
I want to thank you for the information. I did order that torid just now.
This project will be underway soon.
Thank you again!

Those are some reasonable prices but here is another transformer of maybe a bit higher quality, specifically for SS amps...

Diac ?????
Can anyone tell me the math formula to find out what Diac I need for a softstart circuit.
I purchased the Torrid and it is a monster. I powered it up and I will be needing a softstart.
The rectified output is +71VDC / -70VDC 6A
I am using a thyrister softstart. I have all the values of the components excluding the Diac.

Hi,
thyristor soft start? Can you post a schematic?
Diac and Thyristor are often used to fire a relay, not to absorb/reduce a start up current pulse.
A resistor or thermistor are more often used to soft start a toroid transformer.
A thermistor can only be effective if it is cool. This needs some time and does not suit flakely power supplies that could repeatedly brown out over a period of seconds. I will be using resistor type.

Softstart schematic
Here is the schematic.
Well that diden't work, lol, let me see what I did wrong , I will try to send schematic again.
