I've bought a Dayton Audio D1075T compression driver for a reentrant horn, and ive hooked it up to an atlas PA1001G amplifier, but there is always a static/popping sound coming from it. Occasionally the sound will go away, but a few minutes later it will come back by itself. I'm unsure if its an amp problem or a driver problem. Thanks!
The compression driver should only reproduce the output of the amplifier.
Static/popping sounds could result from noise picked up on the external audio source plugged into either the RCA or Balanced inputs.
If nothing is plugged in to the amp, the inputs are unterminated, and the amp will pick up external noise, the level of that noise will vary with the level of the input gain.

The static continues even when nothing is plugged into any of the audio inputs. What would I have to do to fix it? Thanks.
Do you still have static with the amp turned OFF?
Try plugging shorted plugs in all inputs ... any better?
Also: does noise follow any control?
Does system still make noise if set up in another room?

No static with amp turned off. I've already played around with the inputs. I'm going to try and set it up in another room.
Ok, then it is NOT a driver problem, half of your question is answered.
Interference is around us and can get in through many "doors", including mains cable/outlet/grounding.

I've tried in other rooms, ive only noticed a minor improvement. I will upgrade the wiring to see if that helps any.
I have tested the driver on another amplifier, and it sounds great, its 100% a problem with just the amplifier, not interference or wiring. Ill start a new thread on PA1001G static.
