lol, sorry

Im using a spherical reflector, condensor, and fresnels from ace.

Exact specs are:
32.6mm focal spherical reflector
80mm diam, 89mm focal condenser
210 bottom focal x 310 top focal fresnel
Lexan XL10 UV protection

Now the dist. between my first fresnel and LCD is about 15mm. The dist. between the LCD and the last fresnel is about 10mm. Do that affect the brightness of the picture?

What if I moved the entire light box closer to the mirror?

Sorry about not getting the photos up. Easter Sunday has turned out to be pretty busy. I should be able to get those up tomorrow.

As far as the brightness, it has gotten better with a better mirror and moving the light box up. However, it is still not as bright as I would like it to be. How do you know which fresnel is which? I'll try switching them around.

How do you calculate exactly how far the part the optics need to be?

However there is a stuck pixel on the LCD that is glowing green. 🙁 I hear there is some way to massage it out? Any tips?

By the way, I typed this post using the projector 🙂

well im glad you got it going congrats on that, cant wait to get to this stage,as far as i know with the meausre ments this is what im doing and id say id be quite close to your set up also::

1 light source to mirror=160mm
2 mirror to rear fresnel = 60mm
1+2= 220 mm fl this is the measurement off the first fresnel

next im not sure off as you have already done it and im not quite
up to that stage of fitting fresnels etc

so rear fresnel to lcd = 15mm?????????
lcd to front fresnel = 10mm??????????

then front fresnel to optics = 310mm or the fl of that front fresnel

you probably have no idea what im on about but this is how im doing my set up pretty much by the books ,maybe some else could offer a better explaination?????

well heres a scribble that might make thigs clearer.....

When I asked ace about the distances he sent me this picture....So thats what I pretty much designed it around.

The reason I moved the the LCD closer to the copy lense was so it could be focuses with a larger image. Ill try moving the LCD back to 10mm. Picture will be up soon as well

Alright here are the pics.

Please excuse the duct tape and messyness. Its still in the adjustment stages, so I dont want to glue anything down yet.

If you move the condensor farther away from the bulb does it collect more light? I have also been thinking about putting some aluminum foil or some mirrors on the inside of the light box pointing towards the condensor. Anyone ever tried it?

This pic is of the LCD. I used strips of mouse pad to hold it in. Sorry its not very clear!

Front.

For the focus adjustments, I used strips of a mouse pad again. It slides in and out very nicely. As you can see from the picture above, I tried the idea on the diyprojectorwebsite, but I got frustrated with it and gave up.

looking good there mate, can we see a few screen shots at all??or just a few shots of the light passing thru the lense on to some thing ???keep it up .
howd you get on with that screen from the digital dudes??is it working ok and how a bout the brown cable that comes out if it is it pre bent or just sticks straight out???

Ill try to get some screen shots later on tonight when it gets dark. (I have 3 windows in that room)

As far as the LCD, I just emailed the customer service people about the specific LCD I was looking for and they responded they had it and could send it to me $110 shipped. Paypaled the money on friday and recieved it tuesday. The brown fcc is bent at a 90 degree angle. As long as you dont tug on it or anything, it should be fine. However, be sure that you are always grounded when holding it. I pretty sure my first LCD died from ESD.

Sorry guys! School and Lacrosse has kept me busy.

Here are some pictures from the UNC vs Mich. final four basketball game. (I hate UNC (Go NCSU!), but they are in the ACC, so I gotta go for'em)

Actual image is brighter than the picture, but not by much. See why I am kind of disappointed?

Yup, its an Hitachi...I think its the exact same one thats in the Lilliput.

I believe the brightness and contrast only effects it when its a RCA connection, not when the source is VGA. I messed around with the brightness/contrast on the computer, which helps some, but again not as bright as I would like it to be.

I'll probably do some more experimenting when I find some time.
