And i was wondering if somebody has constructed, or planned to constructed a nice 8 channel preamplifier based on passlab pre amplifier. If so I would intressed to have some advice.
Another think I'm wondering about is how do I manage to have a selector between two different 5.1 or 7.1 input and 3 normal 2channels input.

do you want to build a passive preamp, or an active one?
in both cases, as an input selector, you'll also need a 8 channel selector switch

there's no way i'd ever get something like that wired up

I couldn't imagine 8 channels!!!
wouldn't you need multichannel processing in the preamp too?
seems like a lot of work if you just want a mulitchannel attenuator.
or am i missing something (most likely!)

The goal is too be able to use it as a pre-amp fro a SACD player and a DVD-AUdio/Video player. So no digital processing at all. Just the pre-amp part.

microcontrolers and relays should be your friends in input selector
