A stiffer PS will give a more tighter sound and a looser PS a looser sound. You never hear a metal guy going through a 5E3 or a blues guy going through a Randall. Too many notes at one time gets turned to mush on a spongy amp and if you have space between the notes you can play the amp's dynamics.
Agreed - but if Im buying (my first) PS - how do I know which one is stiff and which one is loose. Say Id want to make a 100w super lead clone.
(I even think the Matchless amps are too stiff - they hurt my ears - but that could be for many other reasons of of course)
