Just wondering...
How do you keep a 6th order bandpass tuned when using drivers
with a copper voicecoil?
Just think of it, Q wanders all over the place depending on the temperature of the voicecoil.
Certainly not hifi in my book...

Hi, I am willing to build a 6th order sub with 6" woofers. Can you send me your project details? The So called 6th order enclosure is some what very easy to build but not with softwares but with ears
I have build this one 2 yrs ago to ramshack the windows of my drawing room which was powered by 1KW amp
The response was 10Hz to 100Hz
The Port tuning was 20Hz & 80Hz
If u wanna build this than contact me for greates details

his stuff is difficult to understand. if not use the program to design. u'll not know what is anything happening. i saw a lot in thailand people who build like this. sometime can use and sometime can't use.
6th order
i would like to know how you made it and what all drivers are usedThe So called 6th order enclosure is some what very easy to build but not with softwares but with ears

Hi,
There is little point requesting information that was offered in 2003.
Use a simulator to design a 6th order bandpass it that what you want.
rgds, sreten.

@sreten
thanks for the reply but acctually i want to see the pics of the box and how dd you calculated the size of the box ,
as i have already tried it twice,.
1st time it was big and worked excellent but 2nd time the size was small and the same woofer but the sound was not up to the mark or in simple words , not even close to it.
can you please post some pics,
im using sony 1300 watt 12" sub.

Post the sub specs/model and i'll look at it for you.
If you also post the specs for the boxes you made I'll model them so you can see the outout and what made the bigger box sound better.

I built a 6th order bandpass sub end of last year. It worked rather well! Having a way to do impedence sweeps really helps. I used a WT3. There is a thread here:

and some photos with descriptions here:
Motivity 15" powered Subwoofer AS900
good luck!

Hi Gann,
Wow, old thread! I suspect that when this thread was originally started, 6th order bandpass was a bit more "in the rage" than it is now. It's been superseded by another wonderful new complex box option 🙂
I am pretty new around these parts but think that anyone considering a 6th order bandpass should actually take a stab at a tapped horn instead. In many ways, the 2 designs are like cousins. For a given driver that is favorable for either, the tapped horn variation will often result in similar total box size, but have about a 3dB efficiency advantage, and, depending on the driver, offers more flexible tuning options to make the best use of available displacement. In some cases, maximum SPL for the useful range will be even MORE than a 3dB advantage over a 6th order.
That said, I've seen a wonderful implementation of 6th order in pro-sound (this was quite a few years ago). Front standing row, I could reach out an put a hand inside a port 🙂 I later surmised that they were probably JBL 2241 drivers, probably purchased back when they were semi-affordable.
Regards,
Eric
