I'm using an old RS highgrade OT for my 6l6 se build. Right now Im using it so that I have a 8k load resistance for the 6l6. It has multible taps and 3.3k and 5.5k are also available. My plate voltage is 415v and screen is 400v the tube as a pentode. Its sounds ok but what would be the ideal impedance to use given these specs.
Thanx

8k sounds high for a single ended 6L6. What does the rest of the circuit look like? What operating point did you choose, and why?
I played it by ear really didint really sit donwn and design it kinda thruigh it together really! The rest of the circuit is a pcc88 preamp foolowed by a cathode follower( nothing special) . The amp is fixed bias and the plate current is 40 ma so 16.6w plate disibation.
Thanx for the reply.

When I informed about the rest of the circuit, I kind of anticipated that you'd post a schematic.
Anyway, the 5.5k tap sounds like a more appropriate choice, but it probably won't sound all too different from running it at 8k. You will get a bit more output power at 5.5k. Just try it and see what you like best.

Thank you mastodon. I havent got any schematic drawing software so couldnt sent a schematic. I was looking for a litle more power anyway.
