6E6P DR TRIODE CONNECTION PIN 8

Hi friends.
I have seen threads regarding this topic.
But I am still not clear about the connection of pin 8 on the 6E6P-DR valve in triode mode connection.
Is pin 8 connected to the cathode?
It is connected to ground?

It's an internal shield and logic suggests it should be grounded. However, I do remember reading somewhere that the shield should have a negative voltage on it for best performance. I don't recall where I read it or the optimum negative voltage, unfortunately. But in theory, it should be as simple as placing a single coin cell in series with the shield and 0volts if that is the case. The cell will provide potential with very negligible current so it should last as long as its storage life. My suggestion would be keep the wire long and poke around to see where you get the lowest noise before setting it with solder.
