Greetings,
Am getting togehter the parts for this preamp, the schematic of which appears on this site.
The regulated power supply appears to be quite interesting in itself.
Having a bit of trouble locating a source for the ECG 157 NPN transistor in the power supply.
Would anyone happen to know of some easily avaliable equivalents ?
Also would it be possible to use headphones with this preamp. Headphone capability would make the preamp a bit more versatile.
If headphones could be put in what impedance headphones ?
My thanks in advance for any help given.
Cheers, Inrush

Which schematic are you referring to?
Generally anything with equal or better voltage, current, dissipation and gain will work.

Thanks Colt45 for your advice. Still tracking down the specs for this transistor. Its seems a pretty ordinary one so something will turn up.
Made a mistake re the schematic, it appeared on another similar site so will chase up info there.
Again, my thanks for your help.

Here in the US there are several sites that offer PCB schematic entry, and layout software on line. Then click when your design is done to order the fabs. A Nuvistor phono line preamp is in layout right now. Russian nuvistors can be soldered directly to the board or use sockets.
My motto is 'use a transistor go to jail' The pass elements on my regulators are thermionic. It is OK to use solid state diodes, particularly when building power amps with Foxbat tubes, which idle at 400 mA.

If you can indicate or link to a schematic, it will probably be trivial to suggest an alternate which is cheap and easy to find. But at the moment, there's no context.
