The 6c45pi is a amazing little tube but can be difficult at times. I built a new phono preamp (schematic attached) and wanted to check everyone's experience with driving the tube at different points.
The datasheet notes (attached as well) that the Ip 40+-14ma and Vp 150MAX!
Yet I see much higher voltages and much lower ma used my people all over.
The site: High Gm driver pentodes
At the bottom has a comparison of the 6c45pi run at different settings.
Questions:
1. Does running the tube at lower Vp and Ip extend tube life?
2. What is the best operating points that yealds good THD/gain/life?
3. Is the bias of 80ohm (~2.4V ok?)
4. I have a 1000uF bypass cap in parallel with a 1uF cap, is the 1uF useless? Does it negatively effect tube operation or oscillations?
