Haven’t seen so many 6BM8 / ECL82 PSE or SRPP designs around a net. Am I been blind? 😎 So far have found only one schematic of each configuration. What’s the reason ?
-diminishing returns using two valves instead of one, increased PS requirements, difficulties to find a suitable OPT, or sonic degradation by paralleling or cascading the stages.
If it is so popular tube (read - good sounding) why there is not more topologies tried out besides SE and PP? 😕

In my opinion it is not a good tube... better a 12AU7 and a EL84 that's pretty equivalent... I'm using that tube in a one-tube regen radio... just for fun.
And I seem I cannot find a good NOS one... here I can find only cheap Philips Miniwatt salvaged from TV audio output stages...

It doesn’t seem to affect their popularity of use amongst DIYers though. So what’s the fuzz about building with them? Cheap, simple, forgiving design? Kind a vacuum-state GainClone?
Hi there........6BM8's ECL82's are excellent tubes...esp config as triodes..I use em' as drivers for parallel output hi power p-p o/p stages. I've tried many other ECL types and these offer the lowest distortion in intermediate stages.
