I like the idea of the light bulb, if it doesn't upset the SAF (spousal acceptance factor). The advantages you mention are all valid.
My amp only has a measly 150,000 or so microfarads, and the relay and resistor work great. It's about a 5-second delay.
I would guess that the increased offset you are seeing with the bulb on means that there is some offset adjustment in the amp that needs to be different for a lower supply voltage. 50 mV is no biggie, if it's only a short time anyway.

If your wife is breaking your .... just put the lamp inside with a small hole to see if its on , and there you have a nice happy wife 🙂

Of course, you then have to get the heat from the bulb out of the case

that's ok if it's just for a few seconds, you really don't need more time, unless you want if to be a kind of bias regulator.
(infact that's what i'm going to do on my amp anyway.
i'll just make a hole in the top plate and put the lamp half in, half out.

So far, I haven't seen a schematic posted on this thread regarding to what was discussed here. Roberto Amato posted this link http://mitglied.lycos.de/Promitheus/delay_circuit_for_toroids.htm on another thread http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=5142&perpage=15&pagenumber=4 and I think this is what HDTVman is talking about. It looks really simple ... no transistor and no extra power supply needed. I hope this is helpful information for reference.
I used 180ohm 7w wirewound resistor in series with my toroid, and its working ok (even if I turn my amp off and on a alot of times in short time).. Without soft start, 16A fuse blew and we have 230V here, so its not completely true that powerful resistor must be used..
lightbulb
PedroPO,
Do you think the lightbulb is good part?
When lightbulb wire is cold it have little resistance and lightbulb have also big inrush current until the wire goes hot.
This is opposite to thermistors used in this case.
May be better is to use power resistor instead of lightbulb.
