1- fading control is like left/right ballance, except it is front and rear ballance
2- a horn does not use allot of power, actually the point of a horn is that it is real efficient, the only problem is that horns take up a tonne of space...... for 1 6" driver, you would probably use just about all of your box. the most efficient setup without using a bunch of power or space(well, would still "use" the space, but not take it up) is the infinite baffle, or "free-air". in otherwords, like i described, where you have the polly-fill and plasic there to protect the back of the speakers, adn cut resonant noise, or stop sounds from the cargo box coming through the speakers.
3- i don't really understand the question... i think by "bass" you are referring to a sub, or mid bass driver (basically the sub section of the components)
4- channels, are individual speaker circuits coming from the power source, be it amp, or head unit/reciever

I still say use a pair of 6x9 speakers.
They will sound good and it is simple.
You can still add tweeters for even better sound.
