Thanks guys - im considering doing the simple thing and take out the reg and just use a resitor in the line to take the power down. after all thats how I built my dc supply for the anode, just caps and resistors. I liked the fact that the regulators have some built in protection, but i suppose if i spec it right, should be OK??
Tested!
Works exactly as expected, which comes as no surprise given the reliability of LTspice.
For practical use, I would recommend some standard protection measures: a B-E diode for the transistor, a G-S zener for the MOS, plus a gate stopper if there is a substantial length of track.
Elvee - sorry confused are you saying you've tested my scenario and it works fine - or as expected. i.e only around 5.4 volts ??
many thanks
Mick
I have tested the circuit I gave in #12. Whether it is suitable for you or not is something else. Much depends on your transformer.Elvee - sorry confused are you saying you've tested my scenario and it works fine - or as expected. i.e only around 5.4 volts ??
