5V amp for setup with 4 speakers

Hello!

I'm looking for a suitable amp for a boombox project consisting of four speakers and a Raspberry Pi as source for the music. Since it's gonna be a portable thing, running on batteries and seeing that the Raspberry Pi already runs on 5V, I'm looking for an amp that will fit in this setup.

Are there any around that are nearly as good as an AMP32?

A TPA3116D2 will run on 5V.

There are many others.

Do a Digi-key search on audio amplifiers and you should find many possible choices.

I would suggest using a higher supply voltage for the amplifier and a dc-dc converter for the RP 5V.

Good Hunting.

Because a 12V amp is simply much better?

My hope with going with 5V is also to reduce amounts of battery cells needed.

12V will permit more power...louder.

If 5V is loud enough then use 5V.

Just a suggestion.

For 5V how are you going to generate that from batteries?

6V with a linear LDO regulator? or some kind of DC-DC converter?
