OK, first and foremost, thanks to Ruth who (as always) was charming, gracious, and a wonderful hostess; Dave, you're a lucky guy.

And thanks to Dave, since we literally wouldn't have this event without him.

But I have to make a number of additional thank yous this year; and I have a question - are all guys named Ian/Iain incredibly generous, or have I just been lucky in the ones I meet? Ian Grant, thank you for donating the wonderful door prize of an A-34 tube amp; and Iain McNeill, first raffle winner, for leaving it on the table for the second raffle winner (admittedly a handsome, deserving fellow  ) to scoop up.

Moray, Duo, Dave - thank you for your contributions to making the curvey Harveys sound smashing, and to all for the compliments on the build - aw, shucks.

Terry, it was sure nice to see you again. You'll be glad to know that Fiona and I are working on the canoe this week, though it still won't be finished before she heads off to graduate studies in Vancouver.

Cal, great salmon; but what truly amazes me is how such a shy guy as yourself could have such, um, unabashed loudspeakers. 😀 😀 😀

I could go on (some people unkindly remark that I often do), but to all of you, it was a wonderful event. The concentration of knowledge, skills, and equipment was fantastic, and you are all of you great people.

Thank you all.

Thanks for the pics Ruth. I seem to have a beer in darn near every shot. That seems about right. 😉

Aengus, it is Jesse you owe the thanks to for the salmon.

Sometimes a guy just has to come out of his shell for events like this.

I also see at least 4 persons I left off my list including Ken. The other three I can't place the names.

thanks all...

finally made it home this am (Tuesday). drove all night. Ian and Murray still had a few hours to go when they dropped me off.

Thanks to Ruth and Dave for hosting the event. More to follow as the cobwebs get shook. I'll have to send along a few photos to Ruth to post in the same album.

I did come back to an injured wife, so off to Calgary tomorrow morning for an MRI, so I'll no be spending to much time on the forum for a few days.

Here are the pictures of the event. Enjoy!

Speaking for those dreaming from afar and waiting to see some photo's of the event (and the primary suspects) - THANKS RUTH!!

All of those Boys and their toys - and you and Dave doing everything to put it all together and make it play - WOW!!!! I'm putting your names in for Sainthood! Of course everyone would have to make their own medallion in order to be an accepted member. 😀

I was thinking that it would be nice to see some names to go with the faces - but on second thought some look rather suspect and perhaps should remain unnamed. I'm pretty sure that I have seen that guy that was holding the sign selling speakers out of the back of white vans at the local xxx-mart store!! :clown:

ps - Stew - sorry to learn of your wife getting injured and hope that things work out for you both - you'll both be in my thoughts and prayers!

Oh, that was our famous Terry O, the dumpster diver cum philosopher of the Northwest. I'm pretty sure that at the parking lot you caught him in he was BUYING the speakers, not selling them......

Thanks a million to Dave an Ruth for the DIY event of the season.

Ahh, priceless pics. You know the party is started when. . .

. . .people purposely test the working surface of the electric flyswatter with their tongue! :whacko:

Guilty. 🙂

I thought it might help reduce the fuzziness in my ears from the earlier listening session. The big speakers were 'a' rockin' for about an hour or so. :smash:

Then someone wagged their finger and told us to turn it down :bawling: (no, it wasn't Ruth or Dave. It must have been someone with a small speaker, if you know what I mean.)

Ruth and Dave (and the cats)

A heart felt thank you to Dave and Ruth for extending the warmth and love of their home to all of us one at a time. A thank you to the dozen cats that we for the most part displaced from all their cozy corners. The five or so that I saw and had the chance to interact with were all good buddies who enjoy a long petting and a warm lap to curl up in.
What a fantastic community we are involved with. Some very special people who love to share and learn, so very much experience to call on and all just a post away. Wonderful experience and a tremendous pleasure to meet and spend time with all of you. Thanks to Cal for bringing just part of his rig (the little part) so we could all have a bath in the sound. Thanks to Dave for transporting us all to the tenth planet so we could experience the fonken in all its forms. A very special place. Regards.

Number 153 yes and a winner..

Cal the name is Moray and the Scots roll the "r" so it comes out sounding much more like Murray. One of those names that you spend your life explaining. Really did enjoy your rig and would love to hear the whole set up some time. Thanks for bringing it as the A 7 and then a set of Valencia's with the 511 was the first stereo speaker that I really fell in love with. LOUDsoeakers and the music was good. The Hawthorn's ended up sounding like a hifi version (of Cal's rig) and could play out of doors to a very high level sounding really nice in an almost tiny package I am glad that they were there to hear as well. Who was it that was talking to me about the P-Audio coax speakers? The open baffle speakers were well represented at the fest and really showed what they can do. Regards Moray James.

Moray (and Cal),

Moray: Me and Laura will be leaving around 8:00 or so, and busy until a little after 12:00. Should I bring that stuff up fer the "speaker-off"?

Cal: Moray's pretty easy going, and a nice guy to boot. No egg on your face as far as I know. Somehow speaker dorks sense others of their kind and just "know"(and here speakerdork=Moray, and ampdork, wiredork, and on and on and on).
