Hello tube gurus.
In my experience, RCA 5691 tube has a very specific tonal balance - very full-bodied, with somewhat rolled-off high frequencies. This is exactly what I'm looking for for now. But, they are so expensive, that I have to look elsewhere. Question is, are there any regular 6SL7 tubes out there with similar tonal balance? I have tried JAN Philips, GE silver plates, even Russian ones, and all are a lot thinner and brighter sounding. Are there other 5691 alternatives with similar darker sound?
Thank you

Ooops! I should have said "they are worth nothing"! and get a bunch from you! Seriously, you can look on line and Ebay and see what they go for. I've seen them go anywhere from $26 (used) to $80 (claimed NOS).
Want to sell me a few?
I have never tried 6SU7...
Thanks

6SU7 is a drop in replacement for 6SL7- should be pretty easy to find. The original raison d'etre was section-to-section match.
