Can anyone recommend an Octal upgrade / equivalent for the ever popular 5687, maybe with a higher Ia
It will be used for the dirver stage in an OTL, running 8xEL509
I would like to use an octal bottle rather than the B9a
Thanks!

Hi,
ECC99, 12BH7A for noval types.
As far as octals go, I don't know of any twin triode of the top of my head but the dissimilar triodes may be a good idea; 6EA7, 6EM7 etc.
Cheers,😉

search for some twin triode computer grade like the 6414 or 6350, the new ECC99 is also a good choice, but they are all 9pin base. If you need an octal base maybe you can use both triode of the old 6SN7GTA or the twin dissimilar triode mentioned above. Maybe also the 6BM8 in triode mode with a choke load is good for drive an OTL.

Hi,
The BX7 is much better and will probably cost just as much anyway.
Cheers,😉

BX or BL
I read somewhere the BX has different specs for each triode section, I was hoping to use one for each set of o/p valves, or even strap them together for lower impedance
Thanks
