i am not saying caps are voodoo- they do what they are supposed to do, they store charge and smooth it down.. the lights dimming isnt as noticable bc the voltage dropping is beign smoother by the cap.. what i was tryign to dispel by pasting that post was the myth that a cap will keep your entire system voltage high during transients (which is what the manufacturer's claim)... BTW, if all you are worried about is your lights--get a small cap and put it on your headlights.. save yourlights lotsa money

Only issue is he missed the whole ESR of the long wire from the alternator and battery to the cap and amp in the trunk. Someone should do the math and see how much the cap helps keeping in mind it has much less ESR than the long wire.
