5" LCD's

Hi,

I've got a question regarding the image quality that a DIY projector with a small 5" LCD yields.

I've read that they won't produce super results, but I just bought one for $45 and I was wondering how the image quality using that would compare to, say, one of those 100" TV things. Was my $45 worth it?

Thanks,
Matt

That depends on what your expecting from your projector. A 5" LCD is going to be low-res... meaning when you blow the picture up the "screen door" effect is going to be terrible. Keep the projected picture as small as possible and it may be watchable.

Is it better then the 100" TV thing... any project is... the 100" tv thing is ********... so your good on that level 🙂

Hey just to jump in with a question 😀 how does the Small 5" TV's compare to PSOne monitors???

And is a Sony PSOne monitor easy to use in a DIYProjektor.

The thing is that in Denmark, the small screens are pretty expensive, they almost cost the same as an TFT monitor :S

And rear projektion TV's are about 50"

:devily:  :goodbad:

I tried a Sony PSOne monitor in the store, and it was really nice looking, much better than my 4" Pelican PSOne LCD. Most 5" monitors are simple to take apart, but some have ribbon cables on either side of the LCD making it impossible. No 5" LCD is as good as a TFT monitor, so if you're going to pay the same for either definetly get a Monitor.
