I'm using a 4ohm output transformer to power a 8ohm speaker, is this OK? What can happen? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but my 50c5 runs REALLY HOT...
Thanks,
Nick

50C5s typically run hot anyway. As for that connection, doubling the load at the secondary doubles the primary load as well. The shallower loadline will cost you some output power, but could also improve linearity. Just have to try and see.

With that setup I think you just get less power out of the amp. A lot less either 1/2 or 1/4 it's to late to work out which. Let's see power is (I^2)R, ......
But if you think about if this is common. Most all speakers have higher impedance at higher frequency so at above a few hundred Hz all systems have a mismatched load
