😱 Im totally shocked. I think Im in the wrong business. :whacko:

Has someone actually paid 3300 dollars for something worth maybe 80 dollars 😀😀😀

This is a new design though but still I see just a opamp and buffer. Hows the price of this one ??? 5000 $ 😀😀😀

My advice is this, build the same circuit yourself from easily available parts for around a tenth of the price and this includes fancy enclosures.

I need someone to teach me this business so I can sell my old tennis shoes for 3000 $ ........ 🙄😀😀😀

Sorry guys but looks like you have no clue what you're talking about. 47 labs has been one of the most innovative companies around and japanese labor is expensive in small scale. So what that the chip costs $3.50? Can you do better without stealing his ideas (I.e cloning?) The subject was mulled over in thousands posts. Price in High End world is a marketing tool and only because most customers (us dear friends) are idiots who read fraudulent audio magazines and dream of cloning $100.000 products without having a clue about performance and their real quality . happy dreaming

Thanks for the responses.... well maybe your all right, I suppose what is shown in the pictures is what it is, nothing more than that and overpriced for the sum of parts..

I am not defending this product as I have never heard it however in my humble experience of some high end gear I know you will have to pay the premium for what you want (whether you have heard it or read bout it) and that's just how it goes.
so I am not sure "idiots" is the term I would use for purchasers of high end.
Audio is about personal flavors and tonality as well as good reproduction, I agree you don't have to spend a fortune (what ever that maybe) to get this but sometimes you do.

For reasons of practicality I would like a decent chip amp and the 47 labs just looked interesting for the money which I thought the price was under $1000.00. (correct me if I'm wrong). I had a shigaraki once for while which sounded sweet but i moved it on to try other gear.

what do you guys think of Audiozone, CI Audio.. are there any others Worth considering (the CI is actually way over by budget I was just interested in opinions)

47 Labs does have some nice equipment, and Jeff Rowland also has paralleled LM3886 based amps that are priced even more...they sure are "purdy" tho.

The 47 Labs design was pretty much exactly what National Semiconductor proposed in their Application notes, that the point I couln't get past...

I look at some of the High end stuff with resale in mind, like a Automobile. It is near always a depreciating asset....a DIY LM3875 based amp may not fetch much, but there will alway be someone willing to take a Gaincard off your hands for a nice sum of cash.

Absolutely, the exposure of the Gaincard\Shigeraki internals have not affected their market value, its the time spent designing and voicing these amps though various processes to the finished product is what we pay for

Simples!.

These guys havent designed anything, they just copy the application notes the manufacturer gives away for free. I m sorry I may seem a little offensive but my actual intent is for members to see reason. That guy is laughing his socks off at your back and expense thinking Ive just done another "idiot" in. 😉

AudioD, seriously now, get yourself something like cambridge model 340 or cambridge topaz which are chipamps if that is what youre looking for. They cost around 150-250 pounds and mod and voice them to your hearts content for another couple of quid. At these prices for what they offer is reasonable. Do not be fooled, a 3000 dollar design using the same schematic will not sound better.

No need to feel sorry man!! .. I should apologise for not making myself clear.... by design I was referring to the aesthetics.. as for the voicing, well they do have their own signature. I completely understand what you are saying some Audio-Note Gear is another example, If I had the time, patience and skill to sit voice/build audio to the level I have heard and seen then I would do it.

There's that term "idiot" again gosh audio is getting tense!!!..... listen 47 labs is just an example of what I am interested buying not just a chip amp, and whilst the Cambridge may sound great its just not what I want....one of the first watt offerings, Patek, AudioZone, CI Audio, Virture Audio would be more to my liking...

The point I suppose for all reading is if you like something, can afford it and understand as much as you need too.. then get it....someone will always be laughing at some point but if your enjoying the product then why not laugh as well..

The term "idiot" is maybe not very fortunate but that's how we behave and a splendor of ownership is as much if not more important than the sound and worth of given gear altogether. What I like about Kimura's designs is that he doesn't laugh into face of the customers , you're wrong here. He laughs into faces of high end estabilishment taking pieces of scrap from Radio Schack ,$3.50 regular chip amp or mechanism from boombox and making all this compete quite well with the high -end mainstream. I.e the emperor has no cloths. It's only possible in Audio business thanks to US , us dear friends , us idiots , us morons , us guided sheep. Can you imagine Yugo or any other cheap crappy car mimicking for BMW or Mercedes , no way anybody would get fooled. I agree that used Gaincard is a good investment .After all what we supposed to do ? Strap the granades to ourselves and visit all high end manufacturers? Heck, let them be..
