45 DHT radio chassis as guitar amp

Atwater-Kents are more collectable than most.

Be SURE that a wack-job is really the best use of this classic.

And no, I do not expect it would be a marvvy guitar amp. Too mild, bland.

(I'm sitting a few miles from Atwater Kent's old summer "cottage". A descendant of his is in the next town down.)

The '27 small audio tubes are easy.

The '45 is of course highly collectable, $150-$400++; other triodes could be adapted.

The "Volume" control by adjusting RF stage G2 voltage changes the gain.

By modern standards, this does not have enough selectivity and maybe marginal gain to use as an AM radio today.

It will continue to collect airborne particulates and cat fur, then.
I'm beginning to believe that cats spray out dense fountains of fur during the wee hours of the night, when their human slaves are asleep and unaware.

There is no other plausible explanation for the fifteen kilograms of cat hair we vacuum up each month, all of it apparently coming from two cats who weigh less than fifteen kilograms combined. :cannotbe:
